Growing up in sunny California, I was never what some would describe, as a typical “beach girl.” Yes, I was extremely close to the beach. And yes, I got to experience pretty much year round gorgeous weather. But frankly, I was always more of a “city girl.” I wanted to be where the action was- the restaurants, the nightlife, the clothes, the people, the glamorous-ness of it all was what seemed exciting to me. The dreads and standard beach attire of flip flops and shorts to the tune of reggae just didn’t really do it for me. At least not for long.
We're so Fancy...
I'm always the one holding a baby!
Beautiful shot of my hometown. (I didn't take this but it appears that Yoselyn Aguilar did and kudos to you! You've captured it perfectly!)
Goodbye California, Hello Las Vegas!
Now that I’m older and living in the desert, I'm biting my tongue and craving a relaxing beach day once in awhile. But there you go right? The grass is always greener on the other side, right? Nah, that's just me getting older. Ha! Anyway though, after graduating fashion school in Los Angeles, I quickly escaped my beautiful, sleepy beach town and hightailed it to Sin City!
Being crazy in Vegas!!
Now a decade later, and many (too many to count!) amazingly, crazy fun late nights exploring, dancing and eating my way through this little town in the desert, I am ready to start putting to paper (or in this case, to computer) what I love most about living, eating and breathing here. Mostly because I don’t want to forget how seriously awesome this place is. I still get excited driving down the Strip. How could you not? The lights. The energy. The excitement. It’s all palatable!

And because of that I think its worth sharing with everyone all the really cool things that we do have here, minus a beach of course. But that's just one small detail. Plus we have plenty of wave pools with sand! Las Vegas is so much more than just the strip! There’s nothing I love more than getting out there and finding the coolest, most talked about, up and coming and sometimes, best kept secret spots to eat and drink. In fact, its kind of my thing. I love to read about all the new places and then drag my sometimes reluctant husband and friends to check them out. Then voila! Six months later every ones talking about it! I like to think I have a knack for it. Plus, as locals (at least locals in the know!), we get to check everything out first. Our city runs on tourists. And while we may have a little love/hate relationship with them, we always know what is really going on. What’s hot. What’s new... People come to Vegas and mostly just hang around the strip or go to where they’ve been before. But there is so much more hiding out there. You just have to look for it!
Anyway more on that later . . . so back to me. Ten years later and I still adore Las Vegas. I’ve managed to pick up a Psychology degree from UNLV (GO Rebels!)
Finally done!
and find an absolutely adoring husband and a couple of sweet yet feisty teenage step-sons to round it all off. I'm living the dream!
Summer vacay!
LOVE him...
Like I mentioned before, there is no beach here (can you tell I miss the beach just an eensy, teensy bit?) but we really do have so much else. Between BBQ’s with family, basketball with the kids, hiking up in Red Rock, date nights with my husband, tennis and golf on the weekends, my schedule is pretty full. Living life to the fullest!
Getting my golf on!
Pool Days!
Oh and of course night swims! My absolute favorite thing in the world-right up there next to reading a good book! What can I say? I’m a lucky girl! And these are only a few of the activities we have to offer, I could go on and on, but I’m already starting to sound like a cheesy guide book so I’ll stop now while I’m ahead. Haha!
Date nights are F-U-N!
All this fun stuff aside though, I will be the first to admit that I am not a big cook. My husband on the other hand loves to cook. You know the kind that makes the most delicious, mouthwatering food with a million ingredients and as a result, a million hours of cleanup in the kitchen? He’s that kind of chef.

Me? I prefer to keep things simple. Frozen veggies from Trader Joe's, frozen organic brown rice (also from Trader Joe's, my favorite place ever!) and a grilled chicken breast. Easy peasy and I’m done! Plus almost no clean up! That's my kind of cooking! Haha! Lisa and my husband would theoretically get along since they’re both such fancy chefs but alas too many cooks in the kitchen does not make for a seamless event. Don’t get me started on Thanksgiving two years ago! Yikes! But disaster was averted in the form of a very good bottle of wine.
Wine on the patio at Ferraros. Delish!! (Another hidden gem!)
Or maybe it was two or three . . . Nevertheless, we learned that lesson! I try to stay out of the kitchen and hide whenever I can. But, Lisa is intent on teaching me her fancy moves. So I’m game, as long as its easy and fun! I mean I don’t really need to learn how to cook because my husband is the cook in the family. But, I guess it never hurts to try something new. In fact I am always the one pushing something new on everyone. Can't be a hypocrite now! Plus, who knows when it might come in handy? ;-)
Maybe one glass too many lol?! (But hey, it was my bachelorette party!)
