Hash House A Go Go-Take One! (Krystal's view)

Not being a real big fan of large portions, I was just a tad bit apprehensive about trying out this mega food. Having been here before though, I had a good idea of what to expect. Mostly, I remembered being stuffed to death! But this time we were tackling something completely new and that, I was excited about! The restaurant was much like I remembered it- tall loft-like ceilings with exposed beams, stainless steel tables, dark red walls….much like the interior of a farmhouse. It was cozy, trendy and spacious all in one. And being that it was that quiet hour between lunch and dinner, we basically had to the place to ourselves. With the addition though of a few other patrons scattered throughout, along with the remnants of a lost war. Plates still filled almost completely full, an enormous pancake bigger than any pan I’ve ever used with a mere few bites eaten, half eaten sandwiches piled so high they had tumbled over in defeat… apparently these diners just didn’t appreciate leftovers like I do!

My eyes are bigger than my stomach!

Lisa, my husband and I had decided previously not to over do it. But after looking the menu over it was just too hard to resist. Everything looked delicious! And since I made the mistake (or maybe not?), of not having yet eaten, I was ravenous. So we ended up with three entrees. Normal by any standards in any other restaurant, but here, I knew we would be completely satisfied and then some.

Sage Chicken & Waffles, Double Mushroom & Swiss Burger and the Corned Beef House Hash were to be our competitors. The food came out quick and we immediately got to work. I can’t speak for the others but the burger was my absolute favorite and I am not even a big burger type of girl. I'm usually the one who wants a turkey burger and orders the Grilled Cheese from In-n-Out. Who knew this was going to be so amazing? Not I, because we almost didn’t even order it! Juicy, drippy cheese, sautéed mushrooms and crisp lettuce, tomato, onion (and my personal favorite), a big ol' crisp pickle!, This burger was divine! The teriyaki-tasting sauce decorating the plate really put it over the edge for me. Lisa and I split the burger down the middle and I could hardly put it down before almost inhaling the whole thing! The burger does not come with a side but  you can add one for $3.25, crispy fries salad w/ cucumber dressing, mac & cheese, au gratin potatoes, or sweet potato fries for an additional buck…. and I almost did, but I'm glad we didn’t. We would of never been able to get to it.

Look at that knife! Mushroom & Swiss Double Burger (my favorite!)

On to the Chicken & Waffles! What can I say? Intimidating? Absolutely. A ginormous, thick, bacon stuffed waffle buried under two massive fried chicken breasts, held together with a lengthy stick of rosemary. Wow. My first bite was interesting. I didn’t know what to expect, so I kept trying more. A little waffle and chicken, add some syrup and then finally a bite of the fried leeks and there it was. Delicious! I see now how people can become addicted to this kind of food. Decadent and scrumptious for sure! I could hardly put a dent in though as enamored as I was over the burger!

Sage Chicken & Waffles
I have been a Corned Beef Hash convert ever since my husband introduced me to it (thus the beginning of my secret guilty pleasure), so, I was adamant about getting a few good bites before he polished it off. And polished it off he did! In record time I might add. I think he was just as hungry as I was! The corned beef was not too dry and flavored just perfect. The skillet they brought it out in was of course, huge and filled with meat & potatoes, eggs over medium and a fluffy biscuit. I literally only got about three bites before it was gone, but the little taste I did get was delicious.

After my half of the burger disappeared , even though by this time I was admittedly losing the game, I heard my husband ask for the orange marmalade for his biscuit. Not a marmalade, but a peach jam, was quickly brought out and devoured within minutes. It was the best finish to this incredible meal. We tried to take the leftover jam with us, but being as it was all natural with no added preservatives, our waiter informed us that it just wouldn’t last. If they could find a way to jar this amazingness in its delicious form, I would be buying this peach jam up weekly! It is that good!

Overall, I’d have to say that this was a great start to our little Vegas food adventures. We got to eat like celebrities, stuff our bellies full and try out some good ol’ southern cooking!

The biscuit and jam are mine!
